Expungement through the Jackson County District Court follows a set process. The person must file a petition with the court and meet the conditions under Title 22, Section 18. This can include waiting periods, completion of a sentence, or a dismissal. Once the judge grants the order, the court clerk removes the case from OSCN and pulls the physical file. After that, the record does not show up in public searches. People looking at background checks through the OSBI CHIRP portal will not see expunged Jackson County cases either, since OSBI updates its database to match court orders.
